2015 SWAN/IL Summer Statewide Keynote Speaker

“Troubled Teen to Teacher of the Year" was the headline when Dr. Debra Peppers was one of only five inducted into the National Teachers' Hall of Fame.  Dr. Peppers will speak at the morning general session of the 2015 SWAN/IL Summer Statewide Meeting on June 23 at the Lancaster Host & Convention Center.  The title of her talk will be “Someone’s Hero.”

A university instructor and TV/radio host, Debra has authored and co-authored 15 books.  She and her at-risk students won an Emmy Award for their production CHOICES.

A member of the National Speaker's Association with a master’s degree in Education and a Ph.D. in Communication, Dr. Peppers was named Outstanding Alumni at Webster University, where she is on the adjunct faculty teaching teachers in the Masters program.

Dr. Peppers has been speaking professionally for over 25 years with her goal of encouraging and celebrating those whose life work is dedicated to young people.  She and her husband of 40 years have traveled, done prison ministry or missionary work in all 50 states and 60 foreign countries.

Dr. Peppers shares established communication techniques by demonstrating the impact of conversation, facial expression, gestures, body language and tone. Both written and oral communication, as well as proactive anger-management techniques, provide the benefit of gaining more confidence, being understood and ultimately creating a more peaceful environment.

In addition to Dr. Peppers’ general session, the summer statewide meeting will also offer six concurrent sessions on the afternoon of June 23, 2015 and five breakout sessions on the morning of June 24, 2015.  Registration for this event can be found here.
