The 26th Annual Pennsylvania Permanency Conference, “Together We Can,” will be held June 13-15, 2018, at the Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in the Pocono Mountains. This conference focuses on ways families and professionals from all aspects of the child welfare system can support one another and work together to achieve permanent connections for all children and youth.

This year’s conference will open with a presentation from Kevin Wazner titled “Choose to ACT with ALOHA: Cultivating a Community of OHANA.” The presentation will share essential life and love lessons and remind us that success ultimately comes down to finding joy in everyday situations. Mr. Wazner is a humorist and motivational speaker as well as a proud adoptive parent. Early in his career, he worked and appeared on Late Night with David Letterman. Mr. Wazner was later appointed by President Ronald Reagan to serve as a delegate to the White House Conference for a Drug Free America, on behalf of which he spoke at the United Nations. He has spoken in front of over 3,000 audiences and has been noted nationally as one of the most effective and entertaining speakers for adults who work with and empower the lives of youth.

The closing keynote speaker, Darrell “Coach D” Andrews, is a nationally acclaimed motivational speaker, trainer, life/career coach, and author. He is the developer of H.Y.P.E. (Helping Youth Pursue Excellence), a top-rated youth program under the Workforce Investment Act grant, which had one of the highest youth development success rates of all contracted programs nationally. He now shares innovative strategies for helping youth, parents, schools and organizations develop systems of life, academic and career success. His presentation, “Their Future is in Your Hands!” will inspire conference attendees to believe in the potential they possess to positively impact every youth they serve. Coach D has been happily married for 23 years and is the proud father of four children.

The Permanency Conference offers 47 workshops and institutes addressing a variety of topics regarding permanency for children and youth in out-of-home care and the families who serve them. You also won’t want to miss the recognition awards banquet on June 13 at 5:30 p.m., which honors families, youth and professionals who go above and beyond in their support of the permanency and well-being of waiting children and youth. Then, join us for a Family Fun Night on June 14 at 6 p.m., a delightful evening that gives everyone a chance to meet and share stories while enjoying a buffet dinner and the many forms of entertainment that the Kalahari offers.
